Race results for 2008
The Chesapeake 20 Fleet held 53 races at 17 events.  Fifteen Chesapeake 20s participated in these racing events.  There were 38 skippers including the All-Stars.  We had 375 boat starts, down from 437 in 2007.  There was a record number of Chesapeake 20s at our Nationals and Captain Dick Hartge Regatta.  However, participation was down at the Rock Hall, Nelson Parks, TAYC/Oxford, Summer Series and WRSC/Heintz Regattas.

The overall season champion is once again Roger Link, followed by Bob Blomquist and Ted Weihe.  We counted the top 20 finishes.  The Summer Series was won by Roger Link followed by Bob Blomquist and Ted Weihe with only three boats qualifying in six races.  The Fall Series was won by Bob Blomquist, second, Ted Weihe, and Robin Hartge in third with six boats qualifying in eight races.  The CBYRA High Point was won by Ted Weihe based on regattas listed in the CBYRA 2008 Yearbook.

There was higher participation from eight classic wooden Chesapeake 20s including Mermaid, Spirit, Contrary and Mischief that joined the active fleet in 2008.  Only three glass Chesapeake 20s consistently raced in 2008 and we missed steady participation from at least three or four glass boats that participated in only one or two events.  Several glass Chesapeake 20s did not show up at any events.
