Second Spring Series May 22, 2011

Today we held our second Spring Series.  The race was started at the mouth of the Rhode River and was two laps windward leward.  The participants were #203 Osprey with Gerhard Kloser at the helm with Carmen Skarlupka as crew and #49 The Endeavor with Clay Taylor at the helm with Pamela and Thomas Taylor as crew.

The race started out with excellent starting positions.  The Endeavor took the early lead up wind in about 8 knots of breeze and beat Osprey to the windward mark which Osprey came in contact with and did a penalty circle.  The race down wind went quickly and The Endeavor arrived first.  From there Osprey tacked over to starboard heading for the left side of the course.  The Endeavor did not tack to cover and persued the right side of the course.  Osprey made the windard mark 5 boat lengths ahead of The Endeavor and took the first place finish.
