The first Spring Series of 2011 was held for the year in West River.  The races were sponsored by the West River Sailing Club www.westriversc.org.  The weather was perfect with a building sea breeze from the south from 10 to 13 knots.  There were two competitors, Osprey #203 with Gerhardt and The Endeavor #49 with Clay at the helms.  A series of four races were conducted.  The competition was fierce, good starts and mark rounding were critical to success at the finish line.  Taylor had a poor strategic start on race one and a bad leward mark rounding in race three.  The lead changed hands in three of the four races sometimes twice.  Taylor with his 2nd time Chesapeake 20 sailor Sean Walker had the #49 c1942 screaming down wind to take the win twice.  Gerhard had two racers with him Carmine Skarlupka and Patricia Snow.  A rematch is planned for 1PM on Sunday, May 22, 2011.  See you there!

#49  [2],1,2,1

#203 1,[2],1,2

By the scoring rules with one throw out, #49 was the victor.  By class rules, this was practice, we needed a third boat!  We would like to thank those at West River Sailing Club for the excellent race committee work.
