NOTICE OF RACE                                           

 

2009 ANNUAL ONE DESIGN REGATTA

THE MILES RIVER YACHT CLUB

AUGUST 1 and 2, 2009

 

  1. RULES:  This regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules Of Sailing 2009-2012 (RRS), except as any of these are altered by this Notice, the Sailing Instructions, or at the Skippers’ Meeting.

 

  1. ELIGIBILITY: This regatta is open to all one design fleets, including:  STAR,   PENGUIN, COMET, CLUB 420, OPTIMIST PRAM, and CHESAPEAKE 20. Three boats are required for a start.

 

     OTHER ONE DESIGN CLASSES WILL BE GIVEN A START BY

           NO LATER THAN JULY 25, 2008. Three boats are required for a start.

          

           All registered boats must comply with their Class Association requirements.

   

  1. ENTRIES:  Entries must be made on CBYRA entry forms and will be deemed late unless received by COB July 28 at MRYC. Entries may be delivered at MRYC or mailed to MRYC, P.O.BOX 158, St. Michaels, Maryland 21663. Entry fees are as follows:

                                        

                        OPTIMIST PRAMS               $15.00

                        STARS                                    $50.00

                        ALL OTHER CLASSES        $30.00

                                Late or race day registration             ADD $5.00

 

  1. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

 

Opti and Star fleets will race on Saturday and Sunday. ALL other fleets will race on Saturday ONLY.

  1. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Sailing instructions will be posted on www.milesriveryc.org  no later than July 16, 2009.

 

  1. RACING AREA: Specific fleet racing areas within the Miles River will be announced at the Skippers’ Meeting.

 

  1. SCORING:  The low point scoring system of Appendix A (RRS) will apply.  One completed race constitutes a series. Each boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores unless (4) four or more races are completed and then she may exclude her worst score.

 

  1. TROPHIES: Trophies will be awarded for the first three finishers in each fleet. Stars will also compete for the overall series John Charles Thomas Memorial Trophy.   Awards ceremonies will be held Saturday and Sunday following each day’s racing at 4:00 PM.

 

9.      LAUNCHING AND BERTHING: Beach, ramp, and lift launching are available. After unloading boats, it is preferred that vehicles and trailers be parked in the Club field outside the main gate. Please follow instructions of Launch Coordinator. Washing of boats must only be done in the Club field.

 

10.  NO CAMPING - Please note that due to Talbot County zoning restrictions, overnight camping on MRYC grounds is illegal and will not be allowed.

 

11.  SOCIAL: 

·         BREAKFAST:  Coffee and Donuts will be served Saturday and Sunday and is included in the registration fee.  Regular Club Menu Breakfast service may be purchased on Sunday starting 08:30 hours. 

·         LUNCH: Regular Club lunch service is available on race day. A lunch buffet may be provided for a fee. On the water bag lunches may be purchased for $ 8.00, BUT MUST BE ORDERED NO LATER THAN COB July 28. (410-745-9511).

·         DINNER:  Regular Club Menu Dinner service will be available from 5:30 to 9:00 pm on Saturday night. Competitors are requested to make their own reservations and all are encouraged to attend.

·         POOL: Pool passes are available for competitors in the Club office. Children 14 years of age and under must be supervised by an adult when in the pool area.
