Chesapeake 20 Update & Annual Meeting

Posted in: Semi-Annual Meetings
Clay Taylor and Ted Weihe acquired Babs and Volunteer from the Hedlers.  It is generally assumed that Babs is a Mower design, but its sail #111 corresponds to the third design, Defender, by Captain Dick Hartge in his efforts to build a faster Chesapeake 20 than Vanity.

The update discusses actions at the November 8th Chesapeake 20 annual meeting and potluck dinner with new officers elected, awards announced and new Chesapeake 20 round stickers made available to class members to promote the class and our web site.  We had two excellent speakers: Will Keyworth of North Sails and Molly Winans of Spinsheet.

Minutes of the Chesapeake 20 Association meeting on April 11, 2009 discuss our upcoming six month exhibit at the Annapolis Maritime Museum (AMM) which coincides with our Worlds.  We finalized our race scheduling including participation in the Miles River Yacht Club One Design Regatta on August 1-2, 2009.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to race at Rock Hall since it conflicts with the AAM exhibit and our Worlds.  Art Libby described activities of the CBYRA and encouraged our participation.  Peter Tasi descibed the lay out and plans for the AMM exhibit on Chesapeake 20s as well as the Hartge family story.
